A MAN and woman have been arrested after a PCSO was almost run over by a vehicle.

Shortly after 9pm yesterday police spotted a Fiat Stilo in Bradford Road, Brighouse, that matched the description of one that had almost run over a PCSO in the Clayton area in February.

After spotting the car yesterday, police say there was a "short chase" that was ended for safety reasons.

Police later caught up with the car after it crashed into a Volkswagen Golf in Netherlands Avenue, Low Moor

A spokesman for the Bradford South Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "Late last night, officers from the Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Support Team sighted a vehicle which had previously attempted to run over a PCSO.

"The vehicle failed to stop for police and after a short pursuit through the Wyke area came to end when it crashed.

"The 35 year old male was arrested for 11 offences in all, including dangerous driving and attempt wounding.

"The passenger, a 32 year old woman, was also arrested for eight offences."

Police have this afternoon released further details of the incident.

They said: "At about 9.07pm yesterday police sighted a Fiat Stilo in Bradford Road, Brighouse, which was believed to have previously been used in crime.

"The vehicle was followed safely towards Bradford and a pursuit was authorised, but ended for safety reasons a short time later.

"The Stilo was then found to have been in collision with a Volkswagen Golf in Netherlands Avenue.

"Emergency services attended and gave treatment for minor injuries at the scene.

"The driver and passenger of the Stilo were both found to be wanted for several offences and were arrested.

"Both remain in custody at this time as enquiries continue."
