So many cars have been registered for this year's Bradford Classic Car Show that organisers have run out of space to park them.

Bradford Council has now stopped accepting entries from motoring enthusiasts for the extravaganza because all the available space in the city centre has been taken.

Centenary Square was the first area to be booked out, which prompted the Council to hire Exchange Court so more cars could go on display.

But entries continued to pour in and so the car park at Jacobs Well was booked to help accommodate more than 200 cars.

Councillor Andrew Mallinson, head of the district's regeneration, said: "Interest in this year's show has been incredible, with so many motoring enthusiasts getting in touch about showing off their vehicles.

"It has got to the stage now where we have simply run out of space to park the cars in the city centre.

"The day promises to be a great spectacle with a wide variety of rare and amazing cars of all ages, sizes and designs going on show."

Notable entries include a 1951 Jowett Javelin, a 1973 Chevrolet Corvette, an original Eddie Stobbart Mini Cooper and Ford's current World Rally Championship-leading Focus car.

Bingley man Ken Shipley will also be taking along his £45,000 Ford Escort Cosworth, which was the first Escort to win an international rally when it was victorious in Ireland in 1968.

And new Bradford car manufacturer Javelin Sports Cars Ltd will showcase its Cabrio model.

The show, sponsored by Yorkshire Bank, takes place on Saturday, July 21, in the city centre and Sunday, July 22, at the Grattan Stadium, Odsal.

On the Saturday, along with the cars on show, there will be technical demonstrations by World Touring Car champion Matt Neal, car seminars from the business community, display stands, an exhibition of David Hockney's cars art and motoring films in the National Media Museum.

On the Sunday, the Kickstart Superstage sees the Slowly Sideways GB group demonstrating some amazing, super-powered rally cars around the Odsal track.

The theme for 2007 is a tribute to rallying. Proceeds will go to the Lord Mayor's Appeal - for Bradford Cancer Support Centre's Daisy Appeal and The Ear Trust - and to the Richard Burns Foundation and the Michael Park Fund.

To help raise funds for the three charities, motoring memorabilia will go under the hammer at the Hilton Hotel on the Saturday evening in a Tribute to Rallying' dinner.

Items being auctioned include Formula One teamwear, Great Britain rally champion Phil Short's overalls and the chance for an exclusive ride in a Group B rally car.
