Bradford pop star Tasmin Archer made a surprise visit to a charity event organised by ten talented schoolgirls.

The Guiseley School pupils, aged between 12 and 13, raised £700 for the Make-A-Wish foundation at two events held last Friday and Saturday night at Kirklands Community Centre, Menston.

The Make-a-Wish foundation, which celebrated its 21st year this week, grants the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses.

Also at the event was Tracy Horsfield, from Heckmondwike, who heard about it through a friend and went to tell the story of ten-year-old daughter Hollie who will be placed on the Make-A-Wish list soon.

Colin Wilson, dad of performer Amber Wilson, said the girls had arranged the event from start to finish and the night was a huge success.

He said: "It was fantastic of Tasmin to come and visit the girls.

"I spoke to her on the Saturday and she actually re-arranged her plans to be able to come down to the event.

"She was very moved by what the girls were doing and thought their performance was brilliant."

Singer Tasmin, who had a massive hit in 1992 with Sleeping Satellite, surprised the girls onstage, presenting each of them with a bunch of flowers and congratulations cards.
