An man who bought a "cheap and cheerful" car to do-up, left it parked on the street without insurance, Bingley magistrates were told.

Michael Kenrick, 18, of Garforth Road, Stockbridge, Keighley, who admitted the offence, was disqualified from driving for 12 months under the totting-up procedure.

Katy Rafter, prosecuting, said police checked the vehicle on December 5 last year and found it had no insurance cover.

Keith Blackwell, for Kenrick, said it was a case of his client buying a "cheap and cheerful" car to restore, but not realising he needed insurance to leave it on the street in front of his home.
