Bradford and Airedale Teaching Primary Care Trust smokefree team along with Bradford College yesterday released balloons to celebrate the new smoke-free legislation.
Gail Stringer, health promotion specialist for the trust, who is hosting a stop-smoking group for staff at Bradford College, said: "This is one of the most important public health legislation in the past 50 years and will go a long way to helping us to make Bradford and the whole region a healthier place to live, learn and work."
Jane Marshall, the new healthy college manager for Bradford College, is running a variety of initiatives to improve the health and well-being of staff and students.
These include stop-smoking classes, free breakfasts, free use of the gym and weight-loss classes. There are also plans for a healthy college website.
