A teenager was taken to hospital suffering smoke inhalation after a kitchen fire last night.
The 15-year-old had left cooking unattended when the blaze broke out at the house in High Park Drive, Heaton, just before 11.30pm.
The kitchen was badly damaged but firefighters from Fairweather Green managed to stop flames from spreading.
The boy and an older brother in the house were alerted after smoke detectors went off.
