It was an amateur premiere for Bingley Little Theatre with a production of Alan Plater's Sweet William this week.
And it was a professional performance from an accomplished cast with two great leads.
The play is set in London's Tabard Inn in 1599, and the thieves, drunks and prostitutes who drank there.
So too did William Shakespeare, (Peter Whitley), who drew heavily upon the characters for inspiration.
Julian Freeman commanded the stage as Fat Jack, the model for Sir John Falstaff, while Gilly Rogers was formidable as Landlady Nell, upon whom Mistress Quickly was based.
For a night of song, music, humour, magic and revellery, catch the Elizabethan comedy at Bingley Arts Centre this week.
Runs until Saturday.
