The first steps towards setting up a new group to help Bradford Council look after Ilkley Moor will be taken on Saturday, July 7.
A public consultation meeting will be held in the Winter Garden, lasting from 10am to noon.
The consultation will explore the idea of setting up the Restorers of Ilkley Moor group under the auspices of Bradford Council, which owns the area.
The meeting will give all users of Ilkley Moor a say in the formation of the group. The idea gained backing last year after the week-long fire which destroyed around 500 acres of sensitive heather and peat moorland.
A number of parties with an interest in the moor have already had discussions with Bradford Council and have formed a working party to look into the formation of the group.
It is understood the public meeting could shape the structure of the friends' group and how it will operate.
Anyone wanting more information about the event or looking to take part should telephone Pawel Dzikowski at Bradford Council on 01274 432692.
