Twelve schools from the Bradford district will be rewarded for their drugs education work at a ceremony at Valley Parade today.
The schools will each be given a Bradford Schools Drug Prevention Initiative Charter Award for their holistic approach to drugs education.
The scheme, set up jointly by West Yorkshire Police and Bradford LEA, the five Bradford Rotary Clubs and the Soroptimist International Club of Bradford, aims to motivate and value schools who conduct specialist lessons to educate pupils about the dangers of drugs.
Schools receiving the awards are: Lees Primary, Harden Primary, Clayton Village Primary, Bradford Secondary PRU, Crossflatts Primary, Thornton Grammar, Ilkley Grammar, Shibden Head Primary, St. Matthew's CE Primary, Wilsden Primary , St. Cuthbert & First Martyrs RC Primary and Crossley Hall Primary.
Also in attendance will be Mrs Gay Harley MBE, the High Sheriff of West Yorkshire; Heather Rushton, Education Bradford's Director of School Improvement; Superintendent Gary Baker of Keighley Police and Councillor Elaine Byrom, Deputy Lord Mayor of Bradford.
