Family and workmates celebrated the life of Philip Sawley with a 14-mile walk.
Mr Sawley, who lived in Skipton, was killed in a motorbike accident on the A65 near Newby in October 2005.
He was a key figure in Bradford Council's highways department and helped create the Bingley Relief Road.
A large group, including his widow Marjorie, and many workmates, walked along the canal from Crossflatts, where he worked, to Skipton, where he lived.
Former colleague and friend Joe Grint said the walk was a celebration of Mr Sawley's life and work. "He was somebody who really inspired me. Phil was someone of massive commitment and integrity." added Mr Grint.
So far the walk has raised £500 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance. The charity was chosen because Mr Sawley was airlifted to hospital following his accident. Anyone who wants to donate to the fund can do so via www.justgiving.com/philsawleywalk
