A Cleckheaton man awaiting sentence for unlawful wounding is being transferred from prison to a secure hospital.
Furhat Butt, 28, has been remanded in custody since February after he admitted the offence at Batley and Dewsbury Magistrates Court.
A judge ordered that Butt, of St Peg Lane, should be transferred to the Castlehill Unit at St Luke's Hospital, Huddersfield.
Butt's barrister John Boumphrey told Leeds Crown Court that a new psychiatric report on Butt proposed an interim 28-day hospital order under Section 28 of the Mental Health Act. The hearing was adjourned until July 24.
Judge Ian Dobkin was told a bed was available for Butt immediately. He told Butt: "You will go to the hospital as soon as it can be arranged. I hope that is today."
