Motorists are being advised of a road closure this summer due to essential gas maintenance works in Cross Hills.
The £100,000 scheme involves replacing around 800 metres of metal gas main along the A6068 Skipton Road, which will mean the partial closure of Skipton Road for up to ten weeks.
The road closure will start on Monday, July 9, from immediately south of Kildwick level crossing to the traffic lights at the junction with Keighley Road.
Access will be maintained to homes and businesses throughout Cross Hills at all times, but HGVs will be prohibited from using the A6068 as a through route from Lancashire or Bradford. Diversions will be sign posted as far afield as Colne.
A spokesman for Northern Gas Networks said the scheme was absolutely vital to ensure Cross Hills' local gas supplies are safe and secure for decades to come.
Engineers are aware of the problems caused by a recent previous gas mains project in Main Street and are keen to see they are not repeated.
