Time is running out for Bradford students to apply for grants and loans for higher education.
Anyone hoping to start university or college in September needs to get their grant application in before Friday, June 29, or face not being able to pay tuition and accommodation costs at the start of term.
David Fraser, head of benefits at Bradford Council, said: "It is important students get their applications and supporting documents in before the deadline."
Students returning to college or university in September have already missed the deadline and Bradford Council is concerned that the number of those who have applied for help with continuing their studies is down by 200.
Mr Fraser said: "In the past we have had people coming to us in tears on results day or the start of term if they haven't sorted their money out and don't know what to do. It is vital students realise the importance of getting their forms in before the deadline."
There are several grants and loans available for students. Grants for tuition fees are up to £3,070 and maintenance loans can be up to £2,765. Students can contact (01274) 432639 where officers are available to help with applications.
