Police carrying out a drugs search at a Bradford house last year discovered a Tazer stun-gun in a cupboard, the city's crown court heard today.
Prosecutor Gavin Howie said officers had been executing a search warrant at Paul Strawson's home in Brookfield Road, Pollard Park, last April when they made the find.
Strawson, who pleaded guilty to possessing a prohibited weapon, told officers that he had taken the Tazer off another person during an earlier disturbance.
The court heard that cannabis valued at about £100 was also found in the house and Strawson admitted a further allegation of possessing the Class C drug.
Judge Roger Scott was told that Strawson had already served 111 days in custody since being remanded in February and he sentenced him to a total of eight months in jail for the two offences.
He also ordered Strawson to pay £350 costs out of a quantity of money seized by police during the raid on his house.
Judge Scott said people who possessed items such as Tazers or CS gas should be locked up immediately.
