A THEATRE company behind a stage production which pays homage to the 56 people who lost their lives in the Bradford City fire disaster has handed over a cheque for £500 to the Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit at the University of Bradford.
FYSA Theatre has already raised £3,000 from proceeds from the production's tour around the country with plans for more date to come, said its director Matt Stevens-Woodhead.
The £500 was from performances of The 56 at the Alhambra last week.
The production is a re-telling of stories of those involved in the fire, adapted from real-life testimonies.
Gemma Wilson, of FYSA presented the group's latest donation to the Burns Appeal in memory of Bradford City fire hero David Hustler, who died last October aged 76.
Mr Hustler rescued two people from the blaze on May 11, 1985. One of the two people he saved, Matthew Wildman, then 17, who was trampled on at the back of the stand.
Mr Hustler's partner Gloria Cotter was at the cheque presentation.
Mr Stevens-Woodhead said: "We have plans for The 56 to go on tour again to keep supporting the Burns Unit."
