More vulnerable women at risk from domestic violence will be allocated personal alarms in the Kirklees area.
Dewsbury and District Crime Prevention Panel has donated 50 personal attack alarms to the Kirklees Domestic Violence Unit in a bid to make victims of domestic violence feel safer.
When activated, the alarms sound a 120 decibel siren, which attracts attention to the holder and allows them time to remove themselves from the situation they are in.
Detective Sergeant Ian Welch, from the Kirklees Domestic Violence Unit, said: "We are grateful for the support from the panel in donating these alarms.
"Obviously they are being distributed to those we feel most at risk.
"In Kirklees, we deal with between 550 and 600 cases of domestic abuse per month, so it's extremely important that people have the opportunity to find a quick exit route, which the alarm provides."
Jack Transport, from the Dewsbury and District Crime Prevention Panel, added: "The alarms are simple to operate and are being put to really good use. They can also be used by your front door to deter unwanted callers."
