The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is getting involved in teaching children water safety in a bid to keep them safe this summer.
With hundreds of children seriously injured in water every year, the RNLI hopes early education and heightened awareness of the dangers will keep children safe.
Martin Chappellow, a Bradford volunteer and organiser for the RNLI, will lead safety days in local primary schools. There will be video presentations about safety in the water and the children will practice putting on life jackets and other safety equipment.
Mr Chappellow said: "This is a wonderful opportunity to explain to children the importance of sea and water safety, and also the workings of the RNLI. I'm looking forward to seeing their reactions and excitement to the lifeboat we bring into the schools."
