Missing Bradford man Peter Sands may have been sighted on the Lancashire coast, police said today.
Mr Sands, 34, a garage mechanic, of Claremont Road, Wrose, disappeared four days ago after leaving home at 7.30am.
He failed to turn up for work and on Saturday his green Toyota Starlet car was discovered in a car park at Halifax bus station.
Now police have been told he may have been spotted in Lytham St Anne's over the weekend.
Mr Sands' wife Jenny is appealing for him to come home.
Today Detective Inspector Gerry O'Shea, of Bradford North CID, said: "Peter may still be in the Halifax or Bradford areas, however there has been a possible sighting in Lytham St Anne's in the last few days."
Mrs Sands, 28, has made a personal appeal to her husband to return home. The couple have a son aged four.
She said: "Peter's disappearance is totally out of character."
But she revealed that her husband had personal problems and was suffering from depression.
"All these problems can be sorted out through ourselves and our immediate family, who are very supportive," Mrs Sands said.
She appealed to her husband: "We want you back at home."
Det Insp O'Shea said it was believed Mr Sands parked his car near Halifax bus station at 9.30am on Thursday. The vehicle was recovered by detectives.
Det Insp O'Shea appealed to anyone to come forward who was near the bus station at that time and who may have seen Mr Sands.
He is white, 6ft 2in tall, slim, and has shaven blonde hair. He was wearing a dark green fleece jacket, blue tracksuit bottoms and white and blue training shoes.
Anyone with any information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Bradford North Helpdesk on (01274) 376259.
