A programme of public realm improvements will get under way in a busy shopping area next month.
The work in Darley Street, Bradford, will include the creation of new spaces to hold street markets and events, new lighting, contemporary seating and greenery.
The enhancement of the public space in Darley Street is the first phase of a series of improvements that will take place across the city centre.
The modern designs include natural stone paving, street signs, bins and cycle racks, creating a safe pedestrian space, which encourages people to move around and through the city centre.
The project is designed to strengthen links between the existing shopping area and the Westfield Broadway development.
Councillor Andrew Mallinson, head of the district's regeneration, said he was looking forward to the Darley Street improvements starting.
He said: "This is an example of real regeneration taking place."
