A 19-year-old girl who had her bag and all her college course work stolen when she was mugged two weeks ago has had her property returned following an appeal in the Telegraph & Argus.
Carla Mallett, a beauty therapy student at Leeds College was attacked when returning home from her mother's house in Drighlington to her flat in Little Horton.
Her bag, containing her purse, credit cards and her course work was snatched as she entered the front door to her flat.
Ms Mallett was distraught following the incident as all the evidence of her year's college work was taken and she feared she would have to re-sit the year.
She contacted the Telegraph & Argus appealing for anyone who found the bag to return it to her. On Friday, a man arrived at her home having found the bag.
Sharon Mallett, Carla's mother, said: "We are so grateful.
"This gentleman returned the bag which still had all her course work in it as well as her purse and credit cards. All that was missing was the cash from her purse. The course work was a bit water damaged but should still be fine.
"I don't know the gentleman's name unfortunately but apparently he is a gardener and found the bag stuffed behind a hedge while working. He had read the story in the T&A and realised how important it was.
"We are delighted and so grateful to get the work back. I would just like to say a really big thankyou to this man and the T&A for their help."
