The planned Lottery bid for Skipton's Aireville Park is a step closer.

Craven District Council has appointed landscape consultants Scott Wilson to push forward the development plans.

Eventually the council hopes to net £1.5 million from the Lottery to improve the park and develop features relating to its local heritage.

The plans will also consider the current use of the park and how it can best serve the future needs of residents and visitors.

Council leader Coun Carl Lis said: "The appointment of Scott Wilson is a positive step in ensuring residents and visitors to Craven have a park which they can be proud of and will meet their needs way into the future."

To assist in the planning the council is asking park users to give their views by visiting www.millionvoices.org.uk.

Paper copies of the survey will be available from early in the summer and further information is available from development officer Patricia McLaughlin on (01756) 706312.
