Firefighters from Shipley put out a blazing beech tree in Northcliffe Woods at 7.10am today.
The alarm was raised by a dog walker who spotted the fire about six feet up the tree.
The crew used a fire engine, ladder and backpack to douse the flames in the wood, off Moorhead Lane, Shipley.
The cause of the blaze, which was confined to one tree, is unknown.
