Drivers are being warned to expect up to a fortnight of disruption on the A65 as road improvements are made to ease congestion for people heading into Ilkley from Addingham.
Bradford Council contractor Colas will begin work on the junction of Skipton Road and Victoria Avenue in Ilkley from Monday.
The work will include widening the road to provide a marked lane for eastbound traffic waiting to turn right into Victoria Avenue.
These changes will allow motorists travelling into or through the town from the direction of Addingham to pass vehicles which are waiting to turn right without stopping.
Adjustments to the traffic signals will be made and new road markings will be painted.
The road will remain in use throughout the work, but its width will be reduced, causing some delays.
To help ease the disruption, the work will only take place outside of peak traffic hours.
