Knife-wielding robbers fled empty-handed when their taxi driver victim fought back.
The 40-year-old cabbie, from Bradford, was flagged down outside a parade of shops in School Lane, Illingworth, Halifax, and approached by two youths.
One got in the front passenger seat, punched the driver in the head and demanded cash. The second man sat behind him, pointed a small kitchen knife at his head and also demanded money.
But the taxi driver pushed the man out of the front seat and the second man jumped out as he drove off.
He was unhurt but so shocked by the attempted robbery he did not work again that day.
His blue, S-registered Toyota Avensis was targeted at 2.15pm on Saturday. The would-be robbers were white and aged between 22 and 25. One wore trousers and a white T-shirt. The other was wearing a small, light-coloured jacket. Both were clutching beer cans.
