Plans to de-trunk the A629 and pass over control to local authorities have been delayed.
The de-trunking had been expected to take place soon, but has been delayed for "issues" to be ironed out.
A Highways Agency spokesman said it was unable to give a date when the road would be passed over to North Yorkshire County Council and Bradford Council.
Steeton with Eastburn Parish Council has withdrawn its objection to the plan.
Chairman Councillor Lorraine Harding said the parish council had been concerned that Bradford Council would not have the money to maintain the A629.
"Our basic concern was that the road should not be passed over if there was not enough money, but Bradford Council has reported back that it would get a sum towards the maintenance," she said.
"We have reluctantly withdrawn our objection, although some are still not happy."
A spokesman for the Highways Agency said: "The Highways Agency is currently looking at issues around the de-trunking of the A629. When we have dealt with these we will have a clearer idea of the timescale."
