STUDENTS from a Bradford school used their business brains to raise more than £1,000 for a children's charity.
The group of five sixth formers from Laisterdyke College, Thornbury Road, raised the cash for Save the Children.
They held a host of fundraising events, which raised a total of £1,010, including a bake sale and pizza night.
The students completed the four-day project in December, which saw them receive food donations from shops including Iceland.
They cooked these donated items including pizzas, samosas and baked cakes and cupcakes each day which they went on to sell in school to students and staff.
After each day, the students then reinvested some of their funds into paying for more food to sell on.
Other activities they completed included a raffle, which included a hamper prize.
The students hope to hold a similar project for another charity in the future.
The cheque was handed over to a representative from the charity at an assembly.
Sadia Bashir-Butt, Laisterdyke College's community development officer, said: "They did all of this in their spare time.
"The school is very proud of them. They have used their own initiative.
"This has motivated the group to pick another charity and do it as a longer project next time."
