Thousands of drivers in Yorkshire will have broken the law this bank holiday because they don't have booster seats or cushions for child passengers, according to a survey.
The poll carried out for Masternaut resource management group found 80 per cent of Yorkshire drivers who carry children didn't know the right legal requirement.
Since September, the law has required that children over three but under 13, who are less than 135 cm tall (4ft 5ins), must use the correct seat restraint, either booster seats or booster cushions.
Some 89 per cent of Yorkshire and Humber drivers said they were aware of a new law but only 20 per cent knew what it was.
