A former prisoner of war camp in Skipton has become the inspiration for a new play.
Taking its name from the old camp (now a trailer and mobile home park), , Overdale is set just after the Second World War.
It focuses on human kinship under social and political pressures and recounts a period in Britain's history that is seldom told.
It is estimated around 250,000 people were held in camps around Britain, both during and after the war.
Overdale housed Germans and Italians and many of the prisoners came to call Yorkshire their home.
The play has been written by Kenan Ally, with the help of local historians and former prisoners of war.
It will be performed by the Sheep Town Theatre Company - the resident company at the town's Mart Theatre.
Skipton actor, writer and founder of the company Thomas Aldersley will appear in the production.
The play will be staged on Friday, June 8, at 1.15pm and 7.30pm and Saturday, June 9, at 5.15pm and 8.30pm.
Tickets are £6 each, with two free children's seats with every adult ticket bought for the 5.15pm show on the Saturday.
Tickets can be purchased by calling the mart box office on (01756) 791411.
