THE first acts to play at this year's Bingley Music Live have been announced.

And among them is chart-topping rapper and singer Tinie Tempah.

He will be joined in the all-star line-up by Travis, Echo and the Bunnymen and Sigma for the festival held at Myrtle Park between September 2 and 4.

Tinie Tempah has been described as a massive coup for the Bradford Council-run festival, having already notched up eight number one singles.

His debut single, Pass Out, entered the UK singles chart at number one in 2010. He received two Brit Awards in 2011 for Best British Breakthrough Act and Best Single.

Tinie Tempah has also worked with other singers including Ellie Goulding and previous Bingley Music Live performers, Jess Glynne and Katy B.

Scottish Indie rock band Travis, best known for their hit singles, Sing, Writing to Reach You and Why Does it Always Rain on Me, will also perform. Their new album, Everything at Once, is released in April.

Liverpool's Echo and the Bunnymen will return to BML after first appearing in 2008.

The band formed in 1978 and have produced a host of top ten singles, including Bring on the Dancing Horses, Nothing Lasts Forever and Killing Moon, which was used in the soundtrack of the cult film Donnie Darko.

While the band's line-up has changed several times since they formed, it still features original members, singer Ian McCulloch and guitarist Will Sergeant.

Drum and bass act Sigma, who topped the UK charts with a rework of Kanye West's Bound 2 with Nobody to Love, will also wow the crowds.

The group released their second consecutive number one, Changing, featuring The Voice judge Paloma Faith, in 2014.

Sigma's fourth iTunes number one and top 20 hit, Glitterball, was released last year with guest vocals from former X-Factor contestant Ella Henderson.

The event will also pay tribute to singer David Bowie, who lost his battle with cancer last month, with a host of special guest artists each performing their favourite Bowie track.

Councillor Imran Khan, Bradford Council's executive member for environment and sport, said he expects the festival to prove popular with fans again this year.

He said: "As ever, our team has managed to book some big name acts, which I am sure will attract fans of all ages.

"Our ticket prices make this an extremely good value for money event to rival other summer festivals."

The first wave of tickets for the festival are on sale now. Go to bingleymusiclive.com for more information.

This year, tickets will be sold in two tiers.

These include a new ticket price category for teen tickets for 12 to 15-year-olds is available.

There is also a payment plan for those who would prefer to spread the cost and for the first time, on-site camping.
