THE Telegraph & Argus website is one of the top ten fastest-growing regional newspaper websites in the country, the latest audited figures reveal.
More than 69,000 people visit www.telegraphandargus.co.uk per day - up by 37.2 per cent in a year, according to the latest ABC (Audit Bureau of Circulation) report.
And the average number of website visitors per month is now more than one million.
The T&A is owned by Newsquest Media Group, which is now attracting 28 million unique browsers a month to its network of websites - its biggest ever audience and an increase of 20 per cent on the previous year.
T&A editor Perry Austin-Clarke said the efforts of our news, features and sports teams were now reaching more readers a day in print and online than they did ten years ago.
“We work very hard at ensuring that readers get the service they want and need in the format they need it, when they need it – be that in print, on PC or laptop and ever-increasingly on mobile devices,” he said.
“It also means that we are delivering an unprecedented audience for our advertising customers every day.”
Last year, the T&A was Highly Commended in the Online Media category at the O2 Media Awards, where judges praised its blogs and reader interaction.
The Newsquest group’s figures for January follow continued strong audience growth in the second half of last year, with a company average of 17 per cent growth in the number of daily unique browsers
Newsquest’s Digital Director Mark Smith said: "We’re delighted that increasing numbers of local people are consuming our content across smartphone, tablet and PC. As a result more and more local businesses are advertising online with Newsquest because they know that we have a genuinely local audience who they can target with our sophisticated data driven advertising packages.
"February is also shaping up to be a record month and with more development on our websites due for delivery over the next few months we’re confident we’ll attract even more users and importantly deepen their engagement."
