Haworth Scouts were not lost for ideas after winning a cash grant.
They used the £325 community award, from United Co-operatives, to buy maps and compasses.
Worn out eight-year-old maps have been replaced with six laminated Ordnance Survey maps of the South Pennines and four of the Yorkshire Dales.
The group, 14th Keighley (Haworth), has also bought six Silva compasses.
Members found their way to their local Co-op food store, at Oxenhope, to show the purchases to manager Leiza Sullivan.
She said: "We have a role to play in the community and we're very pleased they were able to put the money to good use.
"These maps and compasses will allow them to get out and enjoy the countryside."
Haworth Scout group chairman Bob Smith said: "We are really pleased to have received this grant from United Co-operatives.
"Scouting has always been about getting young people out into our superb landscape and the equipment we have bought with the grant will help us to enable our youngsters to enjoy the countryside safely while getting fresh air, exercise and an appreciation of our natural environment."
