A FUNDRAISING dinner to support a 38-year-old Keighley dad with lung cancer has nearly sold out.
The evening at The Queens Hotel in Leeds this Saturday (February 27) will raise cash to fund medication for father-of-two Mark Nurthen.
Mark, of Utley, has endured four lots of chemotherapy since being diagnosed with the disease, for a second time, in 2012.
Now his only treatment option is an expensive drug called Nivolumab which is not available on the NHS. So far he has received at least five doses of the drug, each of which costs about £4,500.
Mark, who has two daughters Ava, nine, and seven-year-old Daisy, has never smoked but was first diagnosed with lung cancer in 2011.
His partner Sarah Verity said this weekend's dinner was shaping up to be a very successful evening.
"We've only got a handful of tickets left and lots of amazing prizes for the raffle and auctions," she added.
"The generosity has been unbelievable and it has really restored my faith in people. It should be a very fun and light hearted night."
Saturday's event begins at 6.45pm. There will be a drinks reception, auctions, a raffle, a swing band, a magician and celebrities such as singer Kimberley Walsh, who is a childhood friend of Mark.
Also due to attend will be Kimberley's sister Amy Walsh, from Emmerdale and Jack P Shepherd from Coronation Street.
The black tie night is being sponsored by Sarah's employer, First Event, and the hotel is providing the venue room free of charge.
