HOUSEHOLDERS turned out to clear vegetation covering walkways on the small park area off Windsor Road, Oakworth.
Eleven residents spent three hours digging out the grass and creating drainage channels to carry water away from the paths.
The work was the brainchild of resident Nadine Peck, who approached community development worker Pip Gibson for help.
Pip said: “The walkways had become treacherous for people to try and navigate due to grass growing over most of the paving stones, causing a build up of water and moss which led to very slippery conditions underfoot.
“Thanks to the efforts of local people, residents can now use this through-route without fearing they'll slip on moss or ice.
“Huge thanks to all those who joined in and special thanks to Nadine for her endless enthusiasm."
The land belongs in part to Bradford Council and social landlord Incommunities.
An Incommunities housing officer helped with the digging, and nearby householders provided hot drinks, soup and freshly-baked cakes
Pip now hopes to tackle dog fouling on the grass area, in the hopes of planning a fun day in the summer.
