TWO suspected shop thieves were tracked down and arrested in an example of police and security officials working together to tackle city centre crime in Bradford.
A 28-year-old man and 24-year-old woman were detained by patrolling police officers in Market Street and Broadway this lunchtime on suspicion of stealing electric toothbrushes from the B&M store in the Rawson Quarter.
Sergeant Graham Dyson, of Bradford City Neighbourhood Policing Team, said an alert had gone out on City Centre Beat radios, with descriptions of the offenders, and Council CCTV officers directed officers on the ground and store detectives to the suspects.
The couple were being interviewed today and were expected to be given Community Resolutions. The toothbrushes were recovered.
Sgt Dyson said: "It is a good example of the working partnership we have in the city centre, which has an impact on crime and anti-social behaviour."
