A WOMAN in her 50s suffered chest pains after breathing in smoke caused by a living room fire.
The 52-year-old woman householder was given oxygen by firefighters but refused the attendance of an ambulance following a fire in Thornton, Bradford tonight.
It is believed the fire in the living room may have been caused by an open log fire.
Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus dealt with the fire. They then used a large fan to clear the house of smoke.
A fire service spokesman said: "The woman occupier suffered smoke inhalation and slight chest pains. She was given oxygen therapy by Fire Service personnel but refused the attendance of an ambulance."
Appliances from Illingworth and Fairweather Green fire stations attended the fire at 8pm at Well Heads, Thornton.
