A CHECKOUT assistant at Tesco in Queensbury had her head shaved to help raise money to send a seriously-ill boy to Disney World.
Katrina Gilderdale's locks got the chop in the store on Saturday in aid of an appeal to send Shaun Markey, of Queensbury, to the US.
The Shibden Head Primary Academy pupil suffers from high risk acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and a family trip to Disney in America had to be cancelled after he was diagnosed last April.
David Lightfoot, Tesco Queensbury Community Champion, said Katrina - who was sponsored by staff and customers alike - hoped to have made more than £500.
Her cut locks have also been donated to the Little Princess Trust, which provides wigs and hair pieces for children who suffer hair loss due to cancer treatment.
Mr Lightfoot said the money would add to the thousands of pounds already raised by the Queensbury community from an auction night, to putting on a show for funds for Shaun. He added: "It must be about £5,000 now. Everyone has got involved. It's been a magnificent effort."
