DAREDEVILS have been urged to take the plunge and sign up for a fundraising abseil down a Bradford building.

Volunteers are wanted to take part in a sponsored abseil down the Margaret McMillan Tower, Prince's Way, on Saturday, April 16, between 10am and 4pm.

Organisers hope to raise £4,000 from the event for raise money for the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Joanne Dodds', chosen charities, the Bradford Hospitals Children's Charity and Spread a Smile.

Cllr Dodds admitted she will have to conquer her fear of heights to take part

She said: "I don't like heights. It's a massive challenge for me but I will be doing it."

Abseil event organiser Adam Tasker said: "I would urge people to sign up, come down and be a hero."

All participants must be aged ten or over and raise a guaranteed £40 sponsorship each.

Spread a Smile will offer small grants for organisations and smaller groups across the district to enhance their projects without having to spend extra time raising money.

The Bradford Hospitals Children's Charity is raising money for a range of equipment for a new children's ward which is being built at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
