A mixed team from Chapel Grange Special School and Rhodesway School in Allerton won the Bradford heat of a national adventure challenge.
Year 10 and 11 pupils completed a series of challenges in Chevin Forest, Otley, in The Kielder Challenge.
They included moving from one area to another without touching the ground, transporting a golf ball using pipes and compass work.
The Chapel Grange and Rhodesway pupils came out on top after demonstrating good communication, planning and evaluation skills.
They saw off teams from Bradford Cathedral Comm-unity College, Challenge College, Yorkshire Martyrs School and Thorn Park School for the Deaf.
Points were awarded for teamwork and integration between team members.
Chapel Grange and Rhodesway pupils are now waiting to hear if they have won one of the 12 places in the grand final, to be held in Kielder Forest, Northumber-land, in September.
