While it would be difficult for anyone not to love Scooby-Doo and "The Gang", the cartoon brought to life on stage would not have been on top of my list for viewing if it were not for by pesky six-year-old niece, Georgia.

And, in a bid to win Aunt of the Year award, we hot-footed it over to the Alhambra, where Scooby-Doo - Live on Stage! will be delighting children (and adults) across the district until tomorrow.

The kids are on vacation in the Mystery Machine and are visiting Daphne's uncle, a famous American film director, at the Clawhammer studios.

The Gang then become embroiled in the hunt for a missing $1 million diamond necklace and the Spectre - the ghost behind a series of accidents threatening to ruin Uncle Tim's production.

Can the kids solve the mystery? Of course they can!

The cast were excellent and were spookily cartoon-like, but the show stealers were Scooby-Doo (Pierre Marc Diennet) and Shaggy (Matthew Quinn) who made a fantastic double act, complete with Scooby Snacks and lots of "Zoiks!"

My niece was memorised by the production and seemingly managed to follow the complicated plot, announcing that Daphne was "doomed" after doing her trademark disappearing act.

But, Scooby-Doo remains her idol because he is "funny" and, overall, she thinks the production is "better than the cartoon because it is more real and also I like Freddy because he tells everyone what to do."
