Two men, aged 23 and 19, arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident in Bradford city centre were still in police custody tonight.
The driver of a blue Vauxhall Astra failed to stop after it ploughed into a 79-year-old woman in Drewton Road, between Westgate and Manningham Lane.
Forensic tests were being carried out on the vehicle, which suffered extensive damage to the windscreen and front end, after it was found in Manningham by police.
Police were not naming the dead woman, who lived in Idle, Bradford, until relatives had been informed.
The Bradford Coroner has been informed and an inquest will be held at a date to be arranged. Anyone who has information about the incident or the vehicle beforehand should contact Bradford South Road Policing Team on (01274) 376259.
