A FORMER national long jumper has been named as headline speaker at a training course in Bradford that will help primary school teachers to develop children’s physical skills.
Neil Cameron, also a former performance manager for England Athletics will speak at "How to apply Physical Literacy within the National Curriculum" course, organised by Bradford company Sport Works (Yorkshire) later this month. It follows last year’s PE Conference where many of the city’s head-teachers and PE coordinators said they were looking to move away from competitive sports in schools to develop children’s basic fundamental skills.
The one-day course, which has been designed with leading PE consultants and Ofsted advisors will demonstrates how to design lessons and highlights the importance of developing fundamental skills in all PE lessons.
Simon Leonard, director of Sport Works (Yorkshire) said: “We’re delighted to confirm Neil as our headline speaker – he’ll be able to share a wealth of experience and knowledge with delegates to help them deliver Outstanding PE lessons in their schools.”
Anyone interested in booking a place on the sessions should contact simon@sportworksltd.co.uk or call 01274 800 547.
The event will take place at Lidget Green Primary school on February 29 between 10am-3pm.
