A man has appeared in court accused of indecently assaulting a teenage girl who refused to take one of the leaflets he was distributing.
Ruhel Miah, 25, of Chislehurst Place, Canterbury, Bradford, pleaded not guilty to the sexual touching of a 15-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, and the case was adjourned until July 10.
Miah was granted unconditional bail.
Prosecutor Laura Addy said the girl had been walking home in Harrogate shortly after 7pm on March 25.
It was alleged she was approached by Miah as he was giving out leaflets. She had declined to take one of the leaflets and walked away.
Mrs Addy said it was the Crown's case that as she crossed the road Miah again approached her, put his hand down her top and touched her left breast.
The girl had gone home and told her parents. Through a window her mother had seen Miah getting into a green Toyota Corolla and the girl's father had run out to take a photograph of him.
Court chairman Brian Pattyson agreed to the prosecution request for the case to be tried summarily and Miah agreed he wanted to be tried by magistrates rather than a judge and jury.
