Residents say they are frustrated with a housing developer which is not taking on its responsibility for maintaining grass verges on a newly-built estate.
The overgrown verge in Stead Hill Way, Thackley, had been allowed to grow to more than two feet high, according to residents.
Bradford Council said the developer, Bryant Homes, was still responsible for it as it had not completed the process of handing it over to the authority to maintain.
John Rowley, the Council's senior engineer for major maintenance, said: "The verge is currently an unadopted highway and has not yet been handed over to Bradford Council to maintain.
"However, we are aware of this issue and are working with Bryant Homes to sort it out."
Resident Anne Gargan said she had contacted Bryant Homes and the Council to find out who is responsible for the upkeep of the verges.
"For the last three weeks I have been trying hard to find out who owns the land. But Bradford Council says it is Bryant and Bryant says it is the Council," she said.
"All we want is for the grass verge to be cut regularly. It's been about two foot high."
Mrs Gargan said a Bryant Homes employee had visited the area earlier this month and had showed her a map and explained that the grass verge was not part of the area which it had been told to cut.
"It is so frustrating. I came to live here because it was a really nice area," she said. "Everyone takes pride in their gardens, but the verge is out of control.
"And, what is worse, it was a problem last year as well."
Ward councillor and Liberal Democrat group leader Jeanette Sunderland said: "It is extremely disappointing that still, years after the houses have been built, Bryant Homes has not sorted out basic stuff like handing over the grass verges to the Council.
"It is very distressing for residents who are clearly looking after properties and gardens for the streets to be in such a mess."
Following inquiries by the Telegraph & Argus, Bryant Homes eventually cut the grass this week, although the company was not available for comment.
