Bosses of a new superstore in Bradford have outlined the shop's green credentials.
The Dunelm Mill store, in the old Morrisons building in Sticker Lane, Bradford, has been empty for some time.
Now it has been given a massive face-lift by major home furnishing retailer Dunelm.
Special measures have been taken to ensure energy is saved. The store's administration area has PARS lighting - lights are triggered by sensors when someone enters the area and go off when they leave.
Toilets have half-flushes and basins with compression taps so water is not wasted. And long-life bulbs have been fitted throughout the store, which opens on Thursday.
Dunelm project manager Steve Stavrou said: "All new stores will receive this treatment and we are always looking at new ways to save energy and resources. We are currently testing a bulb that has a lifespan of five years. We are monitoring it to see how effective it is.
"Switching off non-essential equipment in an office overnight saves enough energy to run a small car for 100 miles and leaving a PC monitor on all night wastes enough energy to microwave six dinners."
