They may be generations apart but young and old have been meeting to find out how much they have in common in a bid to identify problems in their community.
Elderly residents of Hallcroft Sheltered Housing Complex in Windhill, Shipley, shared their experiences with Windhill Primary School pupils at regular get-togethers for the last two months ahead of a special neighbourhood forum.
The youngsters, aged ten and 11, will perform a play at the forum to chart how life has changed over the last 60 years but how safety concerns have remained the same.
Jane Hughes, of the Shipley area co-ordinator's office, said: "A lot of the children don't have grandparents living in the area and this has been their only contact with elderly people.
"The idea is that the council will pick up on any safety concerns and look at what can be done, for example if they identify a particular alleyway which is dangerous because of overhanging bushes."
The forum meeting is at Windhill Community Centre, in Church Street, Windhill, tomorrow at 3.30pm.
