A FIRE in a machine used for recycling plastics caused a major blaze at a company in Liversedge today.
Firefighters from Cleckheaton and Dewsbury were called to the incident at Crystal Works, on Union Road, at around 1.20pm.
A spokesman for the Cleckheaton crew said the machine was located in the basement of a building used by Land Polymers Ltd, and was completely engulfed by the fire.
The blaze has been attributed to an electrical fault in the machine, with the fire causing the building and the premises of a neighbouring firm to become heavily smoke-logged.
Two staff were said to be on duty, but managed to escape before fire crews arrived.
No-one was injured in the incident.
