A daily bath uses nearly 1,400 litres more water a month than a shower. And if a family of four each took a bath every day for a year, they would use 219,000 litres of water.
Even though the UK gets a lot of rain each year, the density of our population means that water supplies are limited and must be looked after carefully.
Not only that but heating less water means you save on your gas or electricity bills.
But make sure that your shower head is a low-flow one which may use ten gallons of water over four minutes compared to a normal one which gets through about 20.
Having a power shower though can mean you use as much water as a bath.
In a home built before 1992 the chances are your shower head will put out the larger figure.
Just put a plug in the bath next time you take a shower so you can see how much water you are saving.
This has added bonus of giving your feet a nice spa treatment!
