Police unearthed a cannabis factory when they raided a house in Bierley.
Officers found what is believed to be a "large quantity" of cannabis plants during the raid in Hopefield Way yesterday lunchtime.
Officers are believed to have been acting on a tip-off.
Inspector Gail Lawrie, of Neighbourhood Policing Team East, said: "This is a good example of how people are having the confidence to approach the Police and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) and report their suspicions.
"Neighbourhood policing is working in partnership with local people providing reassurance and taking positive action in respect of people breaking the law."
The house remained under police guard last night.
A man, believed to be in his 30s, has been arrested and was yesterday being quizzed by police.
