A well known former Bradford councillor and magistrate has died at her home in Eccleshill.
Mollie Thackray, pictured, who was 92, was Assistant Lord Mayor of Bradford during the silver jubilee year of 1977-78 while serving as a Liberal councillor for the Eccleshill ward.
She lived all her life in Eccleshill, was a founder member of the Eccleshill local history group, a magistrate for 23 years and lifelong member of Eccleshill United Reformed Church, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday.
She married in 1936, but her husband was killed in 1944 while serving with the RAF. After the war she worked as a beautician.
She met her husband-to-be Joe Thackray on the Number 51 bus.
She had known him from her youth and he was also a widower.
They married in 1956 and celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last year.
Mr Thackray, now 94, had a son Philip who was nine years old when the couple married. Their grandson, Ryan, is an accomplished dancer who is currently appearing in the show We Will Rock You' in London.
Last Christmas Mrs Thackray was honoured by being invited to switch on the Eccleshill festive illuminations.
