REGULARS and staff from the Travellers Rest pub in Leeds Road, Shipley have presented Marie Curie Hospice in Bradford with a total of £4,001.

Gail Stoneman’s father, Douglas Buckle, was cared for at the hospice in September last year so Gail, along with other regulars, Anne Utley, Phillip Drew, Lucy Beetham and Danika Stoneman decided to have their heads shaved to raise funds.

The head shaves took place at a fun day at the Leeds Road pub in August and along with a separate bucket collection around local pubs, brought in the massive fundraising total

Mrs Stoneman said: "I’d like to thank our sponsors and my fellow ‘head shavers’ and the regulars and staff of the Travellers Rest. Lastly, a big thank you to Marie Curie for their help and support at a difficult time."

Sharon Link, community fundraiser, said "I can’t thank everyone enough, this money will pay for 200 hours of nursing care for our patients."

Anyone wanting to organise their own event to raise funds for Marie Curie can do so by visiting their website at https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/get-involved/organise-activity or contacting Sharon Link on 01274 337036.
